We have completed the initial mockups and testing

After brainstorming and designing multiple ideas, we moved on to finding technical solutions. Our vision was clear: to create a portable game board. But a truly portable board needed to meet specific conditions:

  • Minimal space required

  • Durable and robust

  • Cost-effective

  • Lightweight

  • Low power consumption

  • Compatible with physical game pieces

With these in mind, we explored various options and tested them individually.

The First Attempt:
OLED Displays

OLED seemed like a dream solution. It offered high resolution, full rollability, and even touch functionality—perfect for advanced graphical games like Android-based ones. However, reality struck: durability was an issue, and the cost was too high for a viable product.

The Second Try:
Soft LED Panels

Soft LED panels showed promise. Widely used in indoor and outdoor displays, they were affordable and provided decent resolution with acceptable durability. Yet, challenges surfaced: they weren’t fully rollable, required heavy electronic systems, and consumed too much power—making them less portable and cost-effective than we needed.

The Breakthrough:
Flexible LED Screens

Finally, we tested flexible LED screens often used in car window signage and transparent displays. While their resolution wasn’t ideal for Android-based games, they shone in other areas. Flexible, durable, and cost-effective, these screens proved to be the best fit for classic games.

However, challenges remained. To make it suitable for board games, we needed to rethink the design, electronics, and materials. It wasn’t just about adapting—it was about reimagining. Step by step, we worked to redefine and reinvent a rollable, durable, and portable game pad.

And with that, the journey toward creating Pixply truly began.
